About the event

In solidarity with this week's Global Strike for a Permanent Ceasefire in Palestine, we are shifting this event to a free workshop.  We hope that the space can serve as a moment to collectively strategize and bring inspiration to our own liberatory practises.  If you wish to support the ongoing work of Combcutters and Urban Greenworks (the org that stewards Cerasee Farm), we will accept donations the day of.  You can use our tiered pricing below as a guide for how much you may want to contribute, if you choose to do so.

We are starting off 2024 be inviting you into our practise of liberatory beekeeping.  We want to show you all the ways we see liberatory themes running through bee society, how it's steered our beekeeping, and how we see beekeeping as a tool for building new worlds - strong, healthy, just, & free!

Expect an active workshop, where we'll use original games and interactive discussions to build our framework.  After games & discussions, we'll gear up, start the smoker, and get to meet the bees and see them in action!

As cultural workers, organizers, and abolitionists, we stand on the shoulders of our ancestors, and folks like Dr. George Washington Carver, Fannie Lou Hamer, as well as the Indigenous nations whose land we work on today.  Working with bees has, and continues to, deepen our own understandings of the world we hope to build and the steps to get there.  We invite you to bring your curiosity and even your nervous feelings about bees. We hope you come ready to play, learn, and connect.  We love watching people tansform in the midst of the bees!

In order to make this workshop accessible to everyone, we offer the following price tiers.  Please read below, choose the tier that works best for you, and enter that amount as your ticket price.

*PRICING IS PER PERSON*

HIVE ($60):

This is our solidarity price. It covers the full price of your experience with the bees and fully subsidizes another community member's participation, as well. You should consider this price if you can meet all your needs comfortably and can afford extra. This helps support our ongoing work and community as a whole.

BEE BREAD ($30):

This tier is full price. It pays us fairly, covers costs, and allows us to share some funds with Urban Green Works. You should consider this price if most of your basic needs are met, comfortably.

BEESWAX ($15):

This is a reduced price. It covers your experience with the bees without having to over-stretch your budget. You should consider this tier if you are able to meet your basic needs but do so under some stress.

HONEY ($5):

This tier is a reduced price. It covers your experience with the bees and should be considered if you are under constant stress about meeting your needs, and often are not able to partake in leisurely, self-care activities. We got you!
