About the event

Gather in community to dip your own set of beeswax Hanukkah candles, while participating in a discussion that will cover topics ranging from bees and wax to processing grief to Jewish tradition and Palestine.  We'll explore ways in which engaging in Jewish practice can support the liberation of Palestine.  All proceeds from this event will be donated to directly support Palestinians on the ground right now.  We are sticking with Combcutters' usual pricing tiers to keep the event accessible to anyone, but ideally be able to raise a good amount of funds.  If you want to donate additional funds beyond ticket price, let us know & you can send money to Combcutters via zelle or venmo OR we can send you our list of suggestions of who to donate to.

About the candles:

Made from local south florida beeswax, these candles will be approximately the size of theHanukkah candles that you would regularly find for sale - approximately 5/16th inch in diameter and around 4 inches long.  Each candle burns for about an hour, and you will leave with a complete set of 44 candles.

About the process:

We find candle dipping to be a healing & meditative process, especially when done collectively.  We'll sit in a big circle with a pot of hot wax in the middle and take turns, getting up to dip our candles, around and around the circle, watching our candles grow with each cycle.  It IS an active process and want folks to be prepared for that AND will collectively figure out solutions to include anyone who needs to stay seated or move less.

COVID precautions:

Easy Peasy is an inside space, so we encourage taking COVID precautions, like testing beforehand or masking.  Please don't come if you feel sick.

In order to make this gathering accessible to everyone, we offer the following price tiers.  Please read below, choose the tier that works best for you, and enter that amount as your ticket price.

*PRICING IS PER PERSON*

HIVE ($60):

This is our solidarity price. It covers the full price of your experience with the bees and fully subsidizes another community member's participation, as well. You should consider this price if you can meet all your needs comfortably and can afford extra. This helps support our ongoing work and community as a whole.

BEE BREAD ($30):

This tier is full price. It pays us fairly, covers costs, and allows for us to share some funds with Urban Green Works. You should consider this price if most of your basic needs are met, comfortably.

BEESWAX ($15):

This is a reduced price. It covers your experience with the bees without having to over-stretch your budget. You should consider this tier if you are able to meet your basic needs but do so under some stress.

HONEY ($5):

This tier is a reduced price. It covers your experience with the bees and should be considered if you are under constant stress about meeting your needs, and often are not able to partake in leisurely, self-care activities. We got you!
